• Financial separation involves a lot of moving parts that require the specialized skills of a financial professional to sort through: present and future tax liabilities, pension valuations, asset valuations, spousal and child support calculations, and division of assets, along with many other issues. Clients and their legal advisors need to understand and consider all items when developing various financial settlement options for consideration.
  • I have over 27 years of experience as a public finance professional, serving 16 years as Chief Financial Officer to elected officials, their large organizations, and constituents.  During this time, I honed my listening, analysis, option generation, communication, and presentation skills. I can present complex financial matters in an easy-to-understand manner, helping people understand the issues and make the best decisions possible when it involves financial matters.
  • My public service experience allows me to remain poised and diplomatic in the most challenging of situations. I do the work and research needed to provide the best information possible given all the variables, situations, and competing interests at hand.
  • My training through the Chartered Financial Divorce Specialist (CFDS credential) program has given me a varied experience of different issues and circumstances, including many case-study projects, analyses, and reports. The CFDS program is tailored to the Canadian legal and tax environments as they pertain to family law, separation, and divorce. As a CFDS, I am trained in specific analytics, future forecasting, and scenario development. Additionally, through this organization I have developed a support network of other professionals to draw upon for advice on particularly unique situations, should they arise.
  • I have taken Collaborative Family Law process training Levels I and II introducing me to an excellent process of low-conflict, client driven, goal oriented settlement approach to separation and divorce. This process brings the right skills to the right work at the right time and allows the clients to make the decisions that are best for themselves individually and for the children.
  • I am well experienced in completing family law financial forms and documents and in calculating ranges of child and spousal support in the separation and divorce process,
  • As a Chartered Accountant, Chartered Professional Accountant, and Chartered Divorce Financial Specialist, I am confident I have the skills and experience needed and will contribute to an efficient separation process and proceeding for you.  I do this by thoroughly and efficiently collecting, analyzing, sorting, and summarizing your financial situation, and bringing unbiased financial settlement options to the table which are fair and balanced to both parties, are sensitive to each party’s needs and interests, and which meet the needs of the children where applicable. I do this work in a manner that minimizes conflict, builds trust and confidence, and can be seen as truly neutral to both parties.
  • In Collaborative Practice, you make the final decisions, not your various advisors. I am sensitive to the fact that financial knowledge and comfort levels may not be equal amongst the parties, and I work to help balance this by taking the time to thoroughly explain and answer all questions and address any concerns that may arise from either party.
